Craft Festival, Demonstrations, and Antiques

The Wise Business Association will host the 41st Annual Wise County Famous Fall Fling in historic downtown Wise, Virginia, October 12-13, 2019.  The Fall Fling features bluegrass, country, and gospel music, and celebrates authentic Appalachian arts and crafts with well over 135 vendors. You will find wood, pottery, art, photography, candles, antiques, Native American crafts, traditional Appalachian crafts and much, much more. Also, on Saturday and Sunday visit with Mark Ramsay demonstrating black smithing, Chuck Miller panning for gold and gems, and James Damron of EK3 Farms showing you the old-timey way he grinds corn.

Adult Art Contest

Farmers & Miners Bank is sponsoring an Art Contest during this years Fall Fling. Participants must be at least 18 years old. Art work must be dropped off at Farmers & Miners Bank, 331 East Main Street, Wise, by 4:00PM on Wednesday, October 9. Ribbons and cash prizes will be awarded to the top 3 winners. 1st place will receive $75. 2nd place – $50. 3rd place – $25. Entries may not be bigger than 4′ wide or 4′ tall. Winning art will be displayed at the Masonic Hall on Main Street in Wise. NCH Heart-One Cardiac Rehab 5K Race & One Mile Fitness Walk                          

Saturday, Oct. 12.

NCH My Run Rock & Roll Challenge

Saturday, Oct. 12.

Norton Community Hospital’s My Run, Walk and Roll is an event for physically challenged (or just out of
shape!) individuals of all ages that will take place alongside the Heart-One Cardiac Rehab 5K Run. Registration at 8:30 AM. Walk starts at 9 AM. L.F. Addington Middle School Gym. Registration form can be printed from this website soon; check the Registrations, Rules and Regulations page. This event is not a race! It is an individual challenge, with no set finish line. If needed, participants will be able to use walkers, wheelchairs, and other mobile devices to assist in their navigation of the 250 yards, 1/3, 2/3, or 1 mile flat course. Finisher medals awarded to all participants. To guarantee that you will receive a T-shirt, please pre-register by Thursday, Oct. 3. T-shirts will be given to non-registered participants on day of event as available. For more information, contact Brandi Damron at (276) 439-1352.

 

Old Fall Fling T-Shirt Drawing

Saturday-Sunday, October 13-14. 

Wear a Wise Fall Fling T-Shirt from a previous year and stop by the INFO STAND from 10 AM – 6 PM on Saturday,or til 2 PM on Sunday. Put your name and phone number in the registration box to enter the drawing for a $100 Cash Prize & Gift Certificates from local businesses. Winners will be posted, and names will be announced on the Main Stage at Big Glades during The Fling. Winners not present will be called in order to receive their prizes. Photo opportunity for winner of drawing.

Anything Apples

Saturday, Oct. 12.

Bring your traditional apple pie, apple butter, or anything apple dish to the Wise County Courthouse lawn to be judged between 9:00 AM—10:00 AM on Saturday, October 12th. Judging will take place the day of and winners will be announced at noon. Generous prizes will be given to the top three in each category! Rules: 1. No frozen pies. 2. All apple butter must be sealed and in canning jars. 3. Judges have the final decision. Prizes: Traditional Apple Pie: 1st place $50, 2nd place $30, 3rd place $20; Apple Butter: 1st place $50, 2nd place $30, 3rd place $20; Anything Apple: 1st place $50, 2nd place $30, 3rd place $20. Pet Contest

Saturday, October 12.

Bring your furry friend along to the Wise County Famous Fall Fling to compete in our annual Pet Contest! ALL pets are welcome. Registration begins at 1:00PM Saturday, October 12,and the show starts at 2:00PM. The show will take place on the lawn at Christ Lutheran Church. The Good Shepherd Trainers will be present at the event to provide training tips and specials for your pet. Magician Joseph Young
